Grants and Scholarships

Despite the emphasis on modern art during the last several decades, realistic depictions of the horse continue to enjoy tremendous popularity. Current academic preferences and approaches to training, however, may not be conducive to developing the full potential of those artists wishing to dedicate their talents to the equine subject.

The Foundation, through its support and encouragement, hopes to become the catalyst for artists who aspire to create equine art in the classical manner. To continue this great tradition for future generations, planned Foundation grants and scholarships will:

Assist aspiring equine artists to attend accredited university, college, or art institution classes to develop and expand their talents.
Establish a mentorship program for artists and mentors in the disciplines of drawing, painting and sculpting.
Develop and fund a series of life-study workshops for equine artists.
Support various research projects on the horse in art.
Fund approved self-study and travel for equine artists to visit museums and galleries in order to study important works of art.

Additional Programs and Projects

In addition to funding grants and scholarships, the Foundation plans to develop and support projects and programs that will increase public awareness and appreciation of the horse in art. Examples include the following:

Art exhibits which elevate the status of art portraying the Arabian Horse.
A comprehensive video and lecture series on the "Arabian Horse in Art."
An international equine artist exchange program to promote cultural and artistic opportunities.

Exhibits to display the work of Foundation grant and scholarship recipients.

Educational presentations on the horse in art for elementary, middle and high school art classes.
